If you plan to enter your character but don't necessarily want to join the group, please make an entrance responding to the following post:
"As you approach the main gate, two vassals guarding the main gate would eye you , hands gripping their weapons simply to show in their silent diligence that no violence would be tolerated- “Who has come?” –the first voice rang out like a bell as one guard spoke- “And as what manner of creature?” –questioned the other voice, the male of the two shifting slightly as his stormy voice echoed. Both would seem to give off a gentle and barely visible glow to the naked eye. To any with a magical ability their true nature could be seen. These guards were not mortal, nor were they truly living. Thousands upon thousands of runic marks made up the entirety of their being. The guards were living constructs of protective magic itself, and very ancient ones at that They would know this one’s intentions before allowing them entrance to this sacred place..."
Elvish for "seeing glass", the Eluvian is a magical mirror. The elves of Arlathan left no roads to travel between their cities. Instead, they used these enchanted mirrors to communicate and travel from great distances, using a type of magic different from that of the modern Circle of Magi or even the Tevinter Imperium.
Eventually many eluvians were destroyed. An unknown number of eluvians have survived to the present day, scattered across Thedas in forgotten or well hidden locations, but they seemingly stopped functioning or became corrupted, capable of spreading the darkspawn taint. It was assumed that their use was lost after the fall of Arlathan. One such mirror found it's way into the Hollow and only those with elven heritage or a keen knowledge of Fade Magic may operate it.
No one is quite sure why these portals appear in different realms or what fuels them. The being that embodies the Hollow has a way with magic, singing a song heard by the souls of the weary, lost and broken of spirit. This is The Call and once called an unknown force will place the inclination within your mind to walk through a swirling vortex of magic an energy which will appear wherever you may be. Those who enter the Hollow by a portal are stuck in the Hollow until you have found a way to use the Eluvian, for which there must be one in your world to travel back through, or the spirit of the ruins must send you back through the Fade where the veil is thinnest. A portal is only a one way passage.
For any who become stuck in this world you are able to research in the vast library within or seek guidance by simply asking aloud.
A pull on your senses, something crying out for your attention. The slow, metallic piercing of a sharp need in your brain. This is what is known as "The Call". It is unclear why certain being are summoned in this way. The source is said to be linked to the Castle Ruins of Tarathiel. Should you be one of the unlucky few summoned to this plane, you will be transported to this realm with little to no way of returning home.
